Lleyton Hewitt and Benjamin Becker will do battle in Halle on Saturday. The winner will go up against either Roger Federer or Philipp Petzschner for the title.
Lleyton Hewitt and Benjamin Becker will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers when they meet in the semifinals of the Gerry Weber Open on Saturday. Hewitt won their only previous encounter 6-3, 6-3 at last summer's Cincinnati Masters.
Grass courts should give Becker a slightly better chance, as the big-serving German has always done his best work on that surface. His lone ATP title came last year in 's-Hertogenbosch and he is looking good this week in Halle. Becker has scored a trio of straight-set victories, including one over No. 2 seed Nikolay Davydenko.
Hewitt, however, is a former Wimbledon champion and even though he is no longer at his best level, he remains a force on the slick stuff. The 32nd-ranked Aussie booked his spot in the semifinals with wins over Peter Luczak, Thiemo De Bakker, and Andreas Beck. Hewitt has not yet dropped a set and a tiebreaker against Beck was the only frame more competitive than 6-3. Hewitt is now 15-7 for his 2010 campaign, which saw him undergo early-season hip surgery.
"I know that he is a dangerous opponent," said Becker. "I played him last year and he dismantled me. I know that I can play out my strengths on grass and I will also try to do so against Lleyton."
Of course, that is much easier said than done against a consistent opponent like Hewitt, who has always thrived against players with big serves. Unless Becker is putting in a ton of first deliveries, the German crowd will most likely see its man go down in straight sets.

Didn't get to watch the match, just looking at the scoreboard. So becker is good on grass? Two tight sets and now into the third.
Why Scheuttler, a German, not playing at Halle but at Queen's? Any different about the grass surface at Queen's and Halle? Which is a closer surface to Wimbledon?
