Gilles Simon heads to the grass at the AEGON Championships for the first time Wednesday afternoon. The Frenchman takes on wildcard Grigor Dimitrov in the second round.
Gilles Simon is set to make his Queen’s Club debut on Wednesday, taking on wildcard Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in round two of competition. The Frenchman, seeded third at the tournament, looks to jumpstart his season following a lackluster spring, including a poor showing at the French Open. Simon bowed out to Victor Hanescu of Romania in the third round, 4-6, 4-6, 2-6.
The 24-year-old heads into the Queen’s Club event 20-17 on the season, securing only one quarterfinal-round berth in his last seven tournaments. The World No. 7 advanced to the final eight in Estoril before falling to Spaniard Albert Montanes, 7-5, 4-6, 6-7.
Simon holds a 1-0 lead in the head to head series with the18-year-old wildcard recipient. The pair last met in Marseille this past February, the Frenchman snagging a hard-fought victory in the opening round, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Dimitrov, ranked 361st in the world, is 3-2 at the ATP World Tour level in 2009, spending the majority of his time competing on the Challenger Tour. The 18-year-old put the tennis world on notice, however, pushing World No. 1 Rafael Nadal to three sets at the tournament in Rotterdam.
The Bulgarian, playing for the first time at the AEGON Championships, took out Spaniard Ivan Navarro in the first round, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

saw match, Dimitrov is fast, exciting, impressive, very talented and just a bit wild!! Was not experienced enough to convert his chances but very close 7-6, 7-6.

Commentators on Beeb were saying this young man is most exciting talent since Fed hit scene. He's only 18, is Wimbledon junior champ and his English is immpecable!
