Andy Murray has already complained that the tennis shorts in the retro outfit he will use at Wimbledon are feeling just a bit too short.
The above-the-knee look debuted this week is in sharp contrast to current tennis style, but that is unlikely to matter for long in the national hysteria surrounding the Scot's chances of perhaps wining the long-sought title.
The tennis hero is set to evoke memories of the last man to lift the trophy at the All England club, Fred Perry in 1936. Murray debuted his new look designed by the clothing company which bears the former great's name as the buildup to Monday's Wimbledon start ticks closer.
The cable-knit sweater and other new clothing makes its debut on the centenary or Perry's birth, perfect timing as world No. 3 Murray's chances of actually lifting the title grow exponentially during the countdown.
"I'm proud to be wearing an outfit inspired one of my sporting heroes", Murray said at the launch. "I hope one day to follow in Fred Perry's footsteps and repeat his success".
The clothing company is not missing the chance of coining money off of the tennis occasion, taking a cue from football replica shirt marketing. The regular polo shirt will seel of the equivalent of $73 while the commemorative model costs $100.
