Rafael Nadal will play one more week more than most other players. With his exit in the round robin portion of the World Tour Finals, the Spaniard looks ahead to the Davis Cup final.
Another straight set defeat at the hands of Novak Djokovic on Friday spelled the end of Rafael Nadal’s time in London. The Spaniard did not win a single set this week as he continues to struggle with his confidence and the surface alike.
Novak Djokovic had not looked particularly fresh in his Wednesday round robin match against Robin Soderling, but a day’s rest gave the Serb the jolt he needed to snag the victory over the world No. 2.
The Serb probably thought he was in good standing to make the semifinals, but a Nikolay Davydenko victory on Friday night knocked him out of contention. All 3 men (besides Nadal) had won 2 matches and lost 1, but Djokovic had fewer sets won than either Soderling or Davydenko due to his straight set loss to Soderling.
The defending World Tour Finals champion will head out of London early. The semifinals on Saturday will be contested by Roger Federer and Nikolay Davydenko in one match and Robin Soderling and Juan Martin Del Potro in the other.
